Daughter marks anniversary of restaurant slayings
PALATINE, Ill. (AP) -- Twenty years after her parents were killed in a suburban Chicago fast-food restaurant massacre, Wisconsin state Sen. Jennifer Ehlenfeldt Shilling says they have been a positive influence in her life.
Shilling's parents were Richard and Lynn Ehlenfeldt, who were among seven victims of the Jan. 8, 1993 slayings at Brown's Chicken and Pasta Restaurant in Palatine. The victims were shot and stabbed. Their bodies were stacked in a walk-in cooler and freezer. Two men were convicted for the crimes and are imprisoned in Illinois. The Ehlenfeldts owned the restaurant.
Shilling tells the Daily Herald that her parents "cast a long shadow in a positive way" in her family's lives. The Democrat says her parents inspired her life in public service.
