NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (AP) -- The St. Croix County Board chairman says the county-owned nursing home has been a "contentious political football for at least 25 years." And, now county supervisors are ready to make a decision on what to do with it.
Should the county keep the St. Croix Nursing Home open, but reduce expenses? Or, should the county close or sell the facility? A third option is building a new long-term care facility.
Chairman Daryl Standafer tells the Pioneer Press (http://tinyurl.com/8q5jgbg ) "handwringing and indecision" can no longer be tolerated. The board takes up the issue at a meeting Tuesday.
Residents and their families have been upset about the uncertainty of the nursing home's future.
