Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke visits Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) Democratic candidate for governor Mary Burke stopped in Eau Claire Thursday afternoon.

Burke was touring Chippewa Valley Technical College.

During her visit, she talked about the importance of using part of the state's surplus to help teens develop skills they need to join the workforce.

The candidate for governor says training will help fuel job creation and strengthen Wisconsin's middle class.

"This is really how we can grow Wisconsin's economy in order to make sure that the people that are coming out of Wisconsin's high schools have the training for the jobs that are available.

This week, the legislature continues debating how to best use the state's projected $977 million surplus.
