NEW INFORMATION: Deputies investigating armed robbery at New Auburn convenience store

Investigators say a clerk was ordered to give up all the cash from the till and two cartons of cigarettes.

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Deputies in Chippewa and Barron County are asking for your help. They're looking for the man who robbed a convenient store at gun point.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department says the Bridge Stop Convenient Store on West Main Street in New Auburn was robbed just before eleven Sunday night.

Deputies say the man came into the store wearing a ski mask and demanding money and cigarettes.

The employees at the store gave him both, and he left the building.

By the time police got to the store, there was no sign of him.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department.

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (CHIPPEWA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) -- On Sunday, April 27 2014 at 10:55pm the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a clerk at the Bridge Stop Convenient Store located at 330 West Main Street, New Auburn WI. The clerk indicated that they had just been robbed at gun point. The clerk indicated that a lone male entered the store and confronted one of the two clerks on duty displaying a handgun. The clerk was then ordered to surrender all the cash from the till along with two cartons of cigarettes.

The lone suspect then exited the store on foot without further incident. The suspect was described as about 5'08" in height, weighing between 150-180 pounds, wearing black clothing and a black ski mask. Shortly after 11:00 pm Sheriff’s Department along with Bloomer Police Department personnel arrived on scene. Both clerks indicated were not harmed and are cooperating with Law Enforcement. As surveillance film is secured a photo or footage will be sent out when available.

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Deputies are investigating an armed robbery at a Chippewa County convenience store.

Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk says an employee of Bridge Stop on W. Main Street in New Auburn called around 11 p.m. Sunday, saying someone had just robbed her at gunpoint. Nobody was hurt. There's no immediate word on what was taken from the store. When asked how many people were involved in the crime, Kowalczyk told WEAU 13 News "one at this point."

Kowalczyk says his department is working with the owner of the store, collecting video, and taking statements. He expects to release more information Monday afternoon.
