TOWN OF CAMPBELL, Wis. (AP) -- Police are investigating the deaths of two people on French Island near La Crosse.

Authorities say the deaths in an apartment in the Town of Campbell appear to be a murder-suicide case.

Neighbor Jack Smizek says he called police after his wife found a bullet hole in the wall of their apartment, which is across the hall from where the bodies were found. Smizek says it's hard to believe the deaths could happen so close to his home.

Police have not identified the deceased.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) - Deputies are investigating a death near La Crosse.

The La Crosse Sheriff's Department says they're investigating a death stemming from an incident at an apartment on Tellin court on French Island.

French Island is next to the La Crosse regional airport.

Law enforcement haven't released any names or the circumstances surrounding the investigation.

More information is expected to be released at a later time.
