Dickey's Barbecue Pit gets a new owner

Eau Claire, Wi. -- New ownership is taking over the Dickey's Barbecue Pit restaurants in Eau Claire as of March 30.

Eau Claire native Philip Ries is buying the business from Dan Pekol. Ries is a Dickey's franchisee in Wausau who is in the process of moving back to Eau Claire.

Pekol opened the first franchise in Wisconsin in 2011 at 311 E Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire. A satellite store was added last spring on the city's far west side.

Pekol said the transaction will allow him more time with family and his other business - Chippewa Valley Airport Service. He will be assisting Ries during the transition.

Dickey's recently made news when it announced they were accepting gift certificates from Mike's Smokehouse, a long-time eatery that closed in late February. Dickey's honored about $4,000 worth of food from over 300 people and organizations.
