Diesel fuel spills after semi crash; driver receives minor injuries

On Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 4:56 p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a semi crash on Hwy 8 west of Barron.

Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, the Barron Fire Department, WI State Patrol, Rice Lake Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival it was discovered that a Semi with an empty tanker crossed the center of Hwy 8 near 12th Street and struck a tree. The driver of the semi Mark Tretsven, 53, from Dresser received minor injuries and was treated at Mayo Hospital.

Diesel fuel from the semi-tractor was spilled during this crash and Barron County Emergency Management assisted with the clean up along with Greg’s Excavating from Almena. Hwy 8 was closed for about an hour.

This accident remains under investigation by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.
