CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (CHIPPEWA FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) -- On 04/01/14 at 5:00pm Chippewa Falls Police Department officers were dispatched to 1044 W. Spruce St for a report of a vehicle crash with an injury. During the investigation officers came to learn that just prior to the incident Daniel Lauer had been discovered, apparently asleep, in a running vehicle in the driveway at 1044 W Spruce St by an adult female who came outside to get something out of the car. The female opened the door to the car to wake Lauer up at which time the vehicle lurched forward which allegedly caused the car door to knock the female to the ground. The car struck the closed garage door of the residence smashing through it and striking another vehicle parked inside. Lauer allegedly then fled the area after the crash, but was later located inside the residence and eventually taken into custody.

Adult female subject sustained apparent minor injuries from impact with the vehicle and when falling down. She was seen by EMS on scene and transported to a local hospital.
