Dump truck driver killed in crash in Chippewa County

Location: CTH S approximately .5 miles east of 220th Street in the Town of Anson, Chippewa County.

Agencies involved: Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Anson Fire and Rescue, Chippewa Falls Ambulance, Mayo One helicopter, WI State Patrol, WI, DNR, Chippewa County Coroner’s Office, Chippewa County Highway Department, and Jerry’s Towing Service.

On Tuesday May 13th, 2014 at about 9:33 a.m., Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle crash on CTH S approximately .5 east of 220th Street in the Town of Anson, Chippewa County. A dump truck, owned by HAAS Inc., was traveling west bound on CTH S east of 220th Street and crossed the center line into the east bound lane. The truck entered the south shoulder and into the south ditch striking a culvert causing the truck to overturn onto its driver’s side. The truck came to rest in the south ditch.

A 58 year old male from Withee, WI was pronounced deceased on scene by the Chippewa County Coroner.

The male’s name will not be released at this time due to further investigation and notification.


A man was killed in a crash in Chippewa County Tuesday.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department says the man was driving a dump truck on County Highway S in the Town of Anson, north of Chippewa Falls, around 9:15 a.m. when he lost control and rolled into the ditch.

The driver died at the scene. Deputies say the truck was hauling gravel at the time of crash.

Highway S was closed at 220th Street as crews cleaned up the scene.
