EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A fire Monday morning in a duplex caused nearly $20,000 in damage and left one man with a minor injury.
The Eau Claire Fire Department says it happened at a duplex on Ripley Avenue in Eau Claire. The department received a report of the fire around 7:45 a.m. Monday. Firefighters found smoke coming from the second story bedroom window when they got to the duplex. They put out the fire and left the scene just after 10:00 a.m. The fire started in a second floor bedroom. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A man was treated at the scene for what may have been smoke inhalation and then released.
Firefighters say the cold weather did not affect their ability to put out the fire. Skywarn 13 Meteorologist Matt Hoffman says the air temperature was -18 in Eau Claire when crews responded to the fire.
