E-file allows faster tax return
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State Department of Revenue says Wisconsin taxpayers now have a better way to file their income tax and get faster refund.
Officials say with many people doing business online, filing tax returns electronically can shorten the time taxpayers wait for their checks, protect their confidentiality and help prevent human errors.
Refunds can go directly into taxpayers' bank accounts within days after filing. Taxpayers need to file on or before April 15. Officials say all e-filed returns will get a confirmation.
Taxpayers can also e-file federal income taxes.
DOR expects three million returns this year, of which 80 percent will be e-filed.
