OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Aviation enthusiasts from as many as 70 countries are gathering in Oshkosh this week for the annual Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture.
The convention draws about a half million people to the weeklong event at near Wittman Regional Airport. Thousands of planes have already landed at the airport.
On Monday, NASA representatives will talk about their plan to take people to Mars starting in 2030.
Also, Amelia Rose Earhart will make an appearance after becoming the youngest woman to circumnavigate the globe in a single-engine aircraft this month. While she's no relation to the original Amelia Earhart, who disappeared over the South Pacific in 1937, the 31-year-old Earhart was inspired to finish her namesake's flight.
The convention features daily air shows that include everything from aerobatic feats to warbirds.
