ECPD investigates early morning shooting

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Eau Claire police are investigating a shooting which occurred early Sunday morning.

Police tell WEAU 13 News it happened around 5:30am in the 500 block of Chippewa Street, just a block north of Water Street.

Police won't say if the person shot is a man or a woman, they're only saying the person suffered non life-threatening injuries. They also stress they do not believe the public is in any danger.

Investigators blocked off Chippewa Street at 6th avenue for a short time this morning, both streets are now open.

Police would not go into details of the shooting, but a Google map search shows the area is a residential neighborhood.
