Eau Claire Co. volunteers work to measure homeless population

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) Staff and volunteers in Eau Claire County are working to get a closer look at the homeless situation in the county.

Wednesday night the Eau Claire Continuum of Care is conducting its bi-annual homeless count.

A BBQ dinner, haircuts, and a number of resources were all being provided at no charge for homeless people at the community table from 5:00 pm until 6:15 pm.

Then at 10, a number of representatives from other homeless shelters began canvasing the city to get updated information on the homeless situation.

The count is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help collect new data for service needs for the homeless.
