UPDATE: Eau Claire area schools closed Monday and Tuesday

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- UPDATE: Several school districts including Eau Claire, Altoona, and Chippewa Falls have also closed school Tuesday. To view all the closings, click on 'Closings' at the top of our homepage.

Many Eau Claire area school districts have canceled classes Monday, due to the extreme cold temperatures expected Monday.
Districts include Eau Claire, Altoona, Chippewa Falls, Eleva-Strum, Fall Creek, New Lisbon, Birchwood, and Port Edwards.

Regis Catholic Schools 4K-12 are also closed Monday.

The SkyWarn 13 Weather team says the potentially record breaking outbreak of severe cold is expected to move into Western Wisconsin Sunday night into Monday.
Air temperatures combined with winds will produce very dangerous wind chill values, in the range of -40 to -60 degrees.
