Eau Claire family welcomes home soldier

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- 9-year old Remy Rassbach has been waiting all school year for this moment, a chance to give his dad a hero's welcome.

Bill Rassbach was deployed to Katar in August as an Army pilot instructor. He flew missions for eight months to different parts of the Middle East.

"I didn't expect this," said Rassbach. He added, "It's good to be home and see family.

Greeted at the Eau Claire airport by his friends and family, Rassbach says he's got a lot of catching up to do.

"We will probably go back to our house and go out somewhere to eat and just enjoy time as family," Rassbach said.

But his son Remy has other plans. "Play hockey, play catch with a baseball," said Remy.

Two things that are hard for a father to say no to.
