Eau Claire hospitals donate peanut butter to food pantries

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) A couple of Eau Claire area hospitals joined forces to help stock the shelves at local food pantries.

Wednesday leaders from Sacred Heart Hospital and Saint Joseph's Hospital donated more that 100 jars of peanut butter.

The jars will be donated to the Saint Francis Food Pantry in Eau Claire and Salvation Army in Chippewa Falls hoping to help out more than 100 families in the area.

"We decided on peanut butter because we know the food pantries have been pretty tapped this year, and we really felt peanut butter was a very easy thing for anyone to pick up at the store and shove it in your bag and bring it to the event," says Marcia Arneson of the Center for Healthy Living.

One hundred nine jars of peanut butter, which equals nearly 130 pounds, were collected.
