COMMUNITY FIRST: Eau Claire sub shop donates equipment to Township Fire Department

By  |

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Township Fire Department now has a new device that could help save lives thanks to donations at a sub shop.

This morning, Firehouse Subs' safety foundation announced that it recently donated a respiratory fit tester to the department. The device is worth more than $9,000. Rescue workers demonstrated how it tests gas masks and other breathing devices for firefighters to make sure they fit. It helps keep crews from breathing smoke or other toxic gasses.

This is the first donation of its size from the Eau Claire restaurant, and the first time Township has owned this kind of device.
