Eau Claire transit eliminates Menomonie bus route

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) A newly added bus route gets the ax because not enough people were using it.

At a meeting Wednesday night, the Eau Claire County Transit System decided to discontinue the E-12 bus route to Menomonie, which was just created last year.

The Dunn County Transit System is coming into the Eau Claire Center three times a day, making the newly added route obsolete.

Mike Branco, the Eau Claire Transit Manager, says the next step is coming up with alternatives for people who did use the route.

"Overall it's a little bit of a money saver. We are definitely concerned that it might affect a couple of passengers but we are definitely looking at alternatives to get them from a to b," says Branco.

He says he plans to have the alternative decided on by the time of the last trip on that route, which will be on May 3rd.
