(WEAU) - While many were out celebrating the New Year into the late hours of the morning, two parents, Ahood Alzahofi and Bader Shwikan of Menomonie welcomed their first baby girl.

Mayo Clinic Health System welcomed a little girl at 1:56am on January 1st. She weighed in at 5 pounds, 3 ounces and 18.75 inches long.

The mother said she was originally due on the 27th of December, but had contractions for four days straight.

Both parents are full-time students at UW-Stout, where she studies dietetics and he studies electrical engineering. This is the couple’s second child and they join big brother Talal, who is 3 years old. They both say they are very happy to have her be part of their family.

"Very excited. Very happy. This is the first girl in my family," said father, Bader Shwikan.

"He doesn't have a sister, so were really excited," said mother, Ahood Alzahofi.

The parents are still waiting to name her. Possible names are Rama and Danah.
