Farmer donates $5,000 after winning program

(WEAU) - An area farmer was honored Friday night after winning a donation for two local non-profits.

Eric Walker of Augusta was selected a winner in America's Farmers Grow Communities program. Walker was able to pick two groups to receive a $2,500 donation.

He chose the Augusta FFA Alumni and the Augusta - Bridge Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Walker told us "we'll I’ve belonged to this area for a long, long time. I know a lot of the people and anybody that willing to do good work like these organizations, it’s fun to be able to help them."

The America's Farmers Grow Communities program is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. The fund will invest more than $5 million in rural grow communities throughout the country this year.
