WEST SALEM, Wis. (WEAU) -- An area fair kicked off Wednesday.

The La Crosse Interstate Fair in West Salem includes animal barns, food and a carnival.

People at the fair said they’re keeping cool by going in the shade, and drinking plenty of water.

“It’s hot but, it’s fair week. We expect it,” said Megan Clark.
“It’s very hard in the heat, with the horses and us too,” said Joanne Morgan.
“It’s a little warm this year, but it’s always warm during fair time,” said Jennifer Schlimgen.

The La Crosse Interstate Fair runs through Sunday.

Admission and parking are free.
