Fire and Rescue crews in Eau Claire remind people to be safe when floating on rivers

A picture on the Visit Eau Claire website has rescue crews reminding people to be safe when floating down the river.

This picture on the group's homepage shows people floating
down the Chippewa River and says, "Float down the cool waters."

Eau Claire Fire and Rescue, who caution tuber about the dangers of the river, says it's fine with the picture. They want people to enjoy the river. Crews say they understand people are going to float on the river no matter what. They just want those people to be prepared and be safe.

Michael Laska, with Eau Claire Fire and Rescue says,
"If you're going to go tubing make sure you have a decent tube. Make sure and let somebody know where you're going and how long you will be gone. And then also have life jackets. Wear them, but at the very least have them with you. We want you to wear them."

We talked to a representative with Visit Eau Claire, they say they were simply capturing the moment of people floating on the Chippewa River and they encourage any one who chooses to go out on the water to be careful.
