Fire causes $20,000 damage to Eau Claire home

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)- Five people are back in their home after a fire in Eau Claire late Saturday night.

The Eau Claire Fire Department says it responded to a fire at 2033 Glenwood Ave. in Eau Claire around 11 PM Saturday.

When crews arrived they found the fire in the three car garage attached to the home.

Crews say the homeowner tried to put out the fire with several fire extinguishers by the time they arrived on scene.

All five people in the home were able to get out safely. Crews were on scene for around two hours and the family was able to return to their home after the fire.

The fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated to be $20,000.
