(WEAU) - The Black River Falls Fire Department will receive more than $45,000 in grant money to help keep firefighters safe.

The money will come from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant through the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Domestic Preparedness. The money will go towards a new self-contained breathing apparatus compressor and bottles for air storage. The new equipment will allow crews to get the full use out of their air bottles.

Just over $46,000 will come from the federal government, with the fire department contributing over $2,000.
