NEW INFORMATION: Owner of store arrested for fire

MEDFORD, Wis. (WEAU) - Police have made an arrest in a fire at the Main Street Convenience Store in Medford.

David J. Johnson of Medford was taken into custody Monday for arson. Police say he runs the business.

The fire happened Saturday morning. The building is a total loss.

Police say nearby businesses also had smoke and water damage.

MEDFORD, Wis. (WEAU)-- A fire destroyed a convenience store in Taylor County.

Police say an officer saw smoke coming from the Main Street Convenience Store in Medford around six Saturday morning.

Parts of the building had to be torn down to get to the fire.

The building is a total loss with nearby businesses getting smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
