Fire forces evacuation of Wausau motel

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) - A fire at a Days Inn hotel in Wausau forced more than two dozen guests to evacuate into a cold, snowy evening.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the hotel just after 8 p.m. Sunday. Guests were evacuated to nearby hotels.

No serious injuries were reported. Fire officials on Sunday said several guests were treated at the scene and declined transport.

Firefighters battled the blaze until nearly 5 a.m. Battalion Chief Mark Krueger says the damage was mostly contained to the west side of the two-story building. He says the rest of the 120-room hotel only shows smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
