NEW INFORMATION: Crews interview neighbors in garage fire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Crews are investigating a garage fire that happened on Vine Street and damaged neighboring homes.

It happened on the 400 Block around 5:30 Sunday night. The Eau Claire Fire Department says the detached garage started on fire and heat damaged two nearby homes. Crews say people were home at the time but no one was hurt.

Investigators interviewed neighbors and crews were back in the area Monday morning. Fire Investigator, Mike Laska says "What I like to do then is come out and follow up with those interviews. Talking to neighbors, trying to talk to anybody that would've been around at the time of the fire."

The garage was destroyed in the fire.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Eau Claire Fire Department put out a garage fire at 435 Vine Street in Eau Claire.

Firefighters were called to the area for a detached garage fire just after 5 p.m. Sunday.

Battalion chief Dave Okas says the fire damaged the home of the detached garage as well as the neighboring home.

The garage is at a complete loss and damage is estimated around $15,000.

Okas says people were home at the time of the fire but no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is being investigated at this time.
