Flowers taken from downtown Eau Claire bed

(WEAU) - Downtown Eau Claire has a little less spring color this year, and one group wants to know why.

Downtown Eau Claire Incorporated says a bed full of flowers was dug up sometime between the end of last fall and this week. The flower bed is on Graham Avenue, between a sidewalk and a city parking lot near Lake Street.

It says the bed had annuals, perennials, and petunias among others. So now, they're putting out a call for help to re-fill the bed. Salina Heller with DECI said "We've asked for some help. We’re looking for some people to help contribute. We've asked city employees if they are thinning out plants this weekend and if anyone in the public are thinning out plants that are hostas, or daylillies, or anything that might be a good fit here downtown, to help us out and help us beautify the downtown."

Heller says if you are interested in contributing, you can call (715) 839-4914.
