EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - For some, bitter cold means better business
Wiersgalla Heating and Plumbing says many heating business are swamped this time of year. According to the company’s co-owner Daniel Wiersgalla, heating services and sales double when it gets this cold outside.
Experts say cold air prays on weekend equipment and especially older gear often time breaks. And they say sometimes people wait until last minute before the cold hits to replace or buy new equipment.
Wiersgalla told us "out two most common calls are dead batteries in thermostats, and plugged exhaust vents on the exterior of homes so before you call you're heating company I would take the time to check your batteries and check that your exhaust vents and clear and clear of ice and debris."
He also adds it's a good idea to check your furnaces seasonally to make sure you're ready for the cold.
