EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- A woman accused of stealing money from the Elks Club Ladies Auxiliary in Eau Claire appeared in court Thursday.
63-year-old Joyce Thalacker is charged with theft of a business. She's free on a $3,000 signature bond.
A criminal complaint says Thalacker was the treasurer of the Elks Club and withdrew more than $3,000 using an ATM card that was issued in her name at the Ho-Chunk Casino in Black River Falls and at some gas stations. The complaint says she admitted taking the money in order to play bingo, and said she meant to pay it back.
Thalacker resigned as Treasurer.
