CITY OF ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) A former Altoona bar got the go-ahead Thursday night to serve alcohol at its new family style restaurant.

Altoona City Council members approved a liquor license for the former Whiskey's Bar and Grill.

The city says Brad Windeshausen surrendered his liquor license on the condition that it go to Pete Hebert, who is leasing the building to run the restaurant there.

Hebert says the facility has always had what it takes to be family-friendly, and says he would like to open around the first week of April.

The new restaurant will be named "Pete's Restaurant and Spirits."

He says the tiki bar will remain, but it will close at midnight on weekend nights, and at 11 at night on the weekdays.
