SPARTA, Wis. (WEAU)-- A former pastor in Sparta accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl is found guilty.

Online court records show 44 year-old James Monson was convicted of three counts, including sexual assault of a child by a person who works or volunteers with children.

Monson was charged in Monroe County in 2012. A criminal complaint says the girl ran away from home in Texas and was staying with Monson and his wife in Sparta. Investigators say the girl's mother called police, and when detectives interviewed the teen, she told them she and Monson had a sexual relationship.

Monson was once listed as the Pastor of the Gaining Ground Community Church in Sparta.
