STANLEY, Wis. (WEAU) -- The friends and family of one special girl made quite the sacrifice to support her Thursday night in Stanley.
5th grader Lakken Burzynski had a tumor surgically removed from her brain at the end of July.
Two days later, Lakken and her family found out she had Medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer.
She started radiation and chemo September 4th.
Thursday night, her friends and family came to Modern Beauty Salon to get their heads shaved with her.
Lakken's family says they truly appreciate the support people have given her.
"It’s great to see these kids come out. We've known them for a long time, they're in 5th grade now and they've been friends forever. It's really great to see the support they've put out. Not only them, but our whole community,” says Lakken’s parents Greg and Katie Burzynski.
The hair that was cut Thursday night is being donated to Locks of Love.
There is a donation fund set up at Forward Financial Bank in Stanley - (715-644-2566).
You may deposit at any of their branch backs located in Thorp, Withee, Medford, Marshfield, or Greenwood.
