Fund set up for hit and run victim

(WEAU) - As prosecutors make a charging decision on a hit and run in Eau Claire, loved ones are setting up a fund to help the victim.

Zachary Kerska's family says he had surgery just a couple of days ago to remove fluid in his brain but is doing better.

Police say they are getting closer to solving the hit and run that put him in a coma. It happened May 3rd on Seymour Road in Eau Claire. Officers say they have a suspect but have not released that person's name and no charges have been filed. Zachary Kerska, 23, has been hospitalized ever since.

The Zachary Kerska benefit fund is set up at Westconsin Credit Union. Donations can be mailed to or dropped off at any branch.

When we learn more about the suspect, we'll let you know.
