(WEAU) – A gas leak led to an evacuation early Friday morning in Chippewa County.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says they got the call a little after midnighta and responded to the gas leak near the 30,000 block of 90th Avenue in the Town of Delmar.
Brian Manthey with We Energies tells us the leak happened at a regulator station, which is where the gas comes in from transmission lines. He says a regulator mechanism failed, which sent the natural gas into the air. He says crews were able to fix the problem in an hour or two and no service was interrupted because of the leak.
The sheriff’s department and We Energies say no one was injured. An unknown amount of people were evacuated from the area during the leak.
