Girl Scouts and Habitat for Humanity team up to Upcycle

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Area Girl Scouts and Habitat for Humanity are teaming up to give old furniture new life.

Habitat members and the Girl Scouts spent their day refinishing and painting dressers, chairs, tables and more.

The refurbished furniture will be sold by Habitat for Humanity at a new store that will open next spring in King’s Plaza on London Road.

Organizers say it’s a valuable experience for the girls.

"They're not earning badges but you know what? They're learning how to work as a team and they are learning how to upcycle which a new education thing that we have,” says Joan Schmitz.

Schmitz says Habitat is always looking for furniture donations.

If you would like to donate, you can call the Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity.
