Girls get ready for prom with help from Once Upon a Prom

(WEAU) - A local group is giving local teenage girls a hand with getting ready for prom in exchange for helping out in the community.

Once Upon a Prom and the Boys and Girls Club are teaming up with local businesses to provide free prom dresses for the girls. All the girls had to do was complete six hours of community service. Besides the dress, they were also able to pick out their shoes, a purse, plus they got some hair and make up tips.

Organizers say they're pleased with the response they've received. Co-founder of Once Upon a Prom Jennifer Rooney told us "It’s exciting! We're thrilled to finally have arrived at this point, we have been collecting dresses and shoes and purses and jewelry and it has far surpassed our expectations."

If you'd like to get involved in Once Upon a Prom, there's still time. Appointments are still available Saturday starting at 9 a.m. Click here to go to Once Upon a Prom's website.
