Globe University going to 100% digital learning

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - An area college has partnered with Apple to become an all-digital learning school.

Globe University in Eau Claire is one of the first colleges in the country to make the transition to 100% digital.

Training sessions for using iPads are being held this week. The tablets will also hold all of the books the students will need for all their classes.

It is expected that students will save thousands of dollars a year, and the school says it is providing some students with scholarships to help pay for them.

Teachers say it will be a useful tool to help welcome students into the real world.

Criminal Justice Program Chair Patti Salimes told us "The main idea is to get the students used to using new technology that they're using out in the field of whatever they're going into to. So I think it's going to be real good for the students just to get them into the 21st century and into the technology that's out there."

Globe University’s Eau Claire location has about 240 students enrolled.

The fall quarter starts next week.
