Goodwill fall donation drive kicks off

(WEAU) – Goodwill is having their annual fall donation drive this weekend.

I talked with the Eau Claire store team leader who says now that fall weather is kicking in they're in need of fall clothes.

But we can't forget the countdown for Halloween has just begun, so if you're in need of a costume, they have the solution
Winter coats, jeans, fall decorations. Goodwill says it needs all of it.

"There's been an huge influx in the used clothing market so it is a concern for us," said Toni Hams-Linduski, Store Team Leader.

The area team leader showed me around the store to see what people have donated in the past.

"This is an example of a coat somebody donated and like so many items we get the person probably never wore it and the tags are still on it from when they purchased it,” said Hams-Linduski.

"This is our jean section it's a little lighter right now than it has been in the past. There's been a lot of competition in the secondhand clothing and a lot of people are taking their jeans elsewhere, so we have a huge need for jeans,” said Hams-Linduski.

The best part about the donation drive, you don't have to lug your items in by yourself.

"Our donation attendants will come up there and help them unload their vehicle and then offer them a receipt if they would like a receipt for tax time,” said Mike Derge, Area Team Leader.

Meanwhile there are some items to avoid dropping off.

"TV's a lot of times you know a lot of times because you don't know if they work. Some bigger appliances and whatnot. Some furniture we'll take but it should be in good quality condition,” said Derge.

But if you need a Halloween costume, starting in October, and stylists can help at the Eau Claire Goodwill store.

"We have stylists working here so if you come in Friday, Saturday, Sunday we have people on staff that can put together costumes specifically for you,” said Hams-Linduski.

Goodwill says their always looking for Halloween costumes, so if you decide to donate, you can always come in and get this snake hat that can always be added to any Halloween costume.

“There's a lot of cute homemade items that people made that children grew out of; they've donated like Winnie the Pooh,” said Hams-Linduski.

"You can have a garage sale this weekend and whatever you don't sell. Just drop it off at Goodwill,” said Derge.

If you plan on dropping off items whether it’s a costume or coat this weekend.

You can either go to Goodwill in Eau Claire, located on Gateway Drive or to Lake Hallie, located on South Prairie Road.

Donation hours on Friday and Saturday are from 8am to 9pm
On Sunday, donation hours are from 9am to 7pm.
