Gordy's County Market announces three new locations

Chippewa Falls, Wi. -- Gordy's County Market has announced they have purchased three Our Town Fresh Markets located in Arcadia, Galesville, and La Crosse
from the Hegenbarth Food group.

Gordy's will begin operating the stores October 20th, and plans to retain all of the current employees.

“We are filled with a mix of emotions today” said Dave Hegenbarth owner of Our Town Fresh Markets. “We are pleased to be selling to the Schafer’s and Gordy’s County Market because they are family owned and they take care of their employees, customers, and communities; standards that we value and take pride in. We know Gordy’s will bring a renewed energy and passion to these stores that will benefit everyone.”

"We are thrilled about this exciting opportunity to expand into these new locations and the surrounding communities." said Jeff Schafer, president of Gordy's County Market.

“Going from 13 to 16 stores in a matter of months is a challenge, but it excites us to bring our philosophy and culture to Galesville, Arcadia, and La Crosse; 3 terrific communities. Ultimately, this is a reflection on our current employees and how hard they work, without them this growth would not be possible” Jeff continued.
“We look forward to meeting new customers and showing them who we are, serving them well, and offering them quality products at a price they’ll love.”

Gordy Schafer opened his first grocery store in Chippewa Falls in 1966. Gordy's has been a family owned and operated business ever since.

They currently operate 13 Gordy’s grocery stores, and 8 Gordy’s Express gas stations. Combined, Gordy's employs more than 1,300 people throughout west central Wisconsin.
