CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- A locally-owned supermarket chain is about to take over another store.
On Tuesday, Gordy's County Market announced that it has bought Marty's Foods on East Division Street in Neillsville. It will start running the store on January 15. Gordy's did not disclose the purchase price, but did say that it started discussing the deal in October. Gordy's plans to keep all of the workers at the store. Nearly 50 employees are currently at Marty's Foods.
Gordy's County Market runs ten other Gordy's grocery stores and six gas stations. More than 1,200 people work for Gordy's in the area. Marty's Foods has been in Neillsville for 27 years.

Gordy’s also enjoys giving back to the communities in which they serve. In 2014 Gordy’s raised over $350,000 for local non-profits including over $86,000 for Feed My People Food Bank, which services food pantries in 14 surrounding counties, including Clark County.
Gordy Schafer opened his first grocery store in Chippewa Falls in 1966. Gordy's has been a family owned and operated business ever since. They currently operate ten Gordy’s grocery stores, and six gas stations. Combined, Gordy's employs more than 1200 people throughout west central Wisconsin.
