EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) Governor Walker was in Eau Claire Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony at Chippewa Valley Technical College.

A new 54,000 square foot Energy Education Center is being added to the Transportation Education Center at the college.

The new center will focus on three areas of energy technology, energy generation, energy distribution, and efficient conservation.

Governor Walker says the new building will fit well with the state's two largest industries.

"One of the many visits we have made to the Chippewa Valley Technical College, important part of this region, important part of the state's economy, that's why we have invested more into the technical college system, this college in particular, and why we need to celebrate the energy education center. It fits in with the two largest industries very well, manufacturing and agriculture," explains Walker.

Right now, the center is scheduled to open next fall.
