(WEAU) - Tourism is giving Wisconsin’s economy a boost. That was Governor Scott Walker's message when he made a stop in La Crosse Friday for National Travel and Tourism week.
Walker says tourism in the state was up 5% last year, and brought in $16.8 billion. He says the key to keep people coming back to Wisconsin is good hospitality from everyone.
Walker said "it's not just the owner of the operation. It's the person behind the counter, it's the person serving the food, it's the young kid operating the amusement ride. All those things matter in whether or not people have a good experience."
Walker also says he hopes some people who come to visit the state will eventually move here.
