DANE, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Gov. Scott Walker is officially launching his re-election campaign with a series of rallies across Wisconsin.

Walker was to be joined at the events Tuesday by his running mate Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch. Walker was starting the day in Dane, small town north of Madison, before heading to La Crosse, Chippewa Falls, Schofield, Green Bay and State Fair Park outside of Milwaukee.

Walker will be making the case for re-election on his record of having cut taxes by nearly $2 billion, the addition of more than 100,000 private sector jobs and the growth of the private school voucher program.

His Democratic challenger Mary Burke says Walker has failed the state, pointing to the fact that Wisconsin is 35th in private sector job growth.
