LA CROSSE, Wis. (RELEASE) -- Governor Scott Walker made a brown bag visit to First Supply on Monday. First Supply is a wholesale supplier of plumbing, HVAC-R, solar, geothermal, waterheater, waterworks, builder, pump, well, septic and industrial supplies. The company was established in 1897 by the Poehling family, who originally owned and supplied pumps and windmills.
First Supply currently has 28 facilities serving Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois, as well as a central distribution center in La Crosse. They employ 500 Wisconsin employees, and 50 new Wisconsin jobs were created in 2013.
“I was delighted to visit First Supply today,” Governor Walker said. “Recently named Wholesaler of the Year by Plumbing and Mechanical Magazine, First Supply is exemplary of Wisconsin’s industrial vitality. They have served our state, as well as many others throughout the Midwest, for 116 years by providing quality plumbing supplies.”
First Supply also established Gerhards Kitchen and Bath Stores in 1986 in honor of the late Gerhard ‘Gary’ Poehling, whose father started First Supply. Today, there are fourteen showrooms located throughout the midwest, in locations such as Appleton, Brookfield, Green Bay, Madison, and Minneapolis. They also operate a KOHLER Signature Store in Edina, Minnesota.
