Gov. Walker's wife released following surgery

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker's wife Tonette has been released from the hospital following an appendectomy.

Walker spokeswoman Julia Lund says that Tonette Walker was released from the hospital on Thursday and resting at home. She had the surgery on Wednesday after being admitted the night before with stomach pains.

Walker canceled his plans on Wednesday to be with her in the hospital. Walker spokeswoman Jocelyn Webster says the governor met with families of the victims of the Sikh shootings Thursday morning, then planned to spend the rest of the day with his wife.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker says his wife has been taken to a hospital with stomach pains, and his spokesman says it isn't anything life-threatening.

Walker disclosed the information Tuesday night while excusing himself from a vigil being held for the victims of the shooting at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek. He says he needed to leave to be with his wife, Tonette.

Walker's spokesman, Cullen Werwie, says Tonette Walker is in the hospital undergoing tests. He says she was in the hospital earlier Tuesday but was released, then went back later in the day.

Werwie says he didn't have details about her condition but that the governor stressed it wasn't anything life-threatening.

He says the governor will likely clear his Wednesday morning schedule.
