EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Federal Communications Commission has approved a Madison-based company's $15,500,000 deal to buy a half-dozen local radio stations.
On Wednesday, Mid-West Family Broadcasting announced the recent approval in a news release. The company bought the stations from Maverick Media earlier this year. They include WAXX 104.5 FM, I-94 FM, 92.9 FM The X, Bob FM 99.9, NewsTalk 790 WAYY AM, and ESPN 1150 AM. Mid-West Family Broadcasting has been running the stations since May 1.
The company also purchased Maverick Media stations in Rockford, IL, and owns several stations in La Crosse.

Madison-based Mid-West Family Broadcasting purchased the stations from Maverick Media earlier this year and the FCC recently approved the $15.5 million deal.
"We are happy to back in the Eau Claire market, having owned stations here previously," Mid-West Family Broadcasting President Tom Walker said. "We will continue the tradition these stations have in the community when it comes to serving listeners and clients."
Mid-West Family has been operating the stations since May 1st . Vice President/General Manager George Roberts will remain in his position as General Manager and Owner. "The transition has been seamless and I am proud all of our stations are now part of this fantastic local company," Roberts said.
Mid-West Family also purchased the Maverick Media stations in Rockford, IL. With these purchases, more than 35 owned and operated stations currently fall under the Mid-West Family Broadcasting umbrella in Madison, WI, La Crosse, WI, Springfield, MO, Springfield, IL and St. Joseph/Benton Harbor/South Haven, MI.
