EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The opening of a new $12,000,000 complex has the governor in town for a ribbon-cutting event.
On Monday, Governor Scott Walker joined Visit Eau Claire for the event at the Holiday Inn Eau Claire South. It's a 90,000 square-foot complex near the I-94/U.S. Highway 53 interchange that employs nearly 150 workers. The hotel opened during the summer.
Walker calls it an important investment in the community, and in Wisconsin's tourism and hospitality industry. A release from the governor's office cites Visit Eau Claire in saying the hotel and connected Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse will bring an estimated 3 percent hike in tourism-related jobs in Eau Claire County.
