LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Green Bay Packers foundation has awarded a grant to a local food pantry.

Earlier this month, the foundation announced that the WAFER Food Pantry in La Crosse would be awarded a $5,000 grant. It will go toward the organization's Senior Share food package delivery program. Nearly 200 seniors receive a food package from WAFER every month. The packages include four days worth of food, and are delivered to their homes.

WAFER says its staff and board are thrilled that the foundation chose to support its efforts. The grant was awarded during the foundation's annual distribution of funds. It gave a total of $750,000 to 188 civic and charitable groups throughout the state.
